The 5-Dot Mark — Exploration

Five configurations tested. Each arrangement carries different weight, rhythm, and implied motion.

3 × 2 Grid
Wide and stable. Reads as a progress bar or data table. Too horizontal — lacks upward energy.
Rejected
2 × 3 Column
Tall, aspirational. The gap top-right creates breathing room. Gold bottom-left anchors and starts the journey upward.
Chosen
L-Shape
Strong foundation, vertical growth. Too architectural — feels like a building block, not wealth.
Rejected
Diagonal
Implies upward trajectory like a chart line. But loses grid regularity — harder to reproduce consistently.
Rejected
Cross
Centred and balanced. Too symmetrical — no tension, no narrative. Feels medical or religious.
Rejected

Why This Configuration

The 2-column × 3-row grid with intentional absence and a golden anchor.

Empty = Potential
Gold = Starting Point
White = Built Wealth

"The empty space represents potential. The gold dot represents the starting point of wealth."

The Empty Space
The top-right void isn't missing — it's the space yet to be filled. It represents the investor's future, their unrealized potential. In a 2×3 grid of 6 positions, only 5 are occupied. The sixth is an invitation.
The Gold Dot
Positioned at bottom-left — the starting point. Gold against white signals the first investment, the seed capital. From this position, wealth builds upward and outward. It's the only dot with colour because it's the only one that acts.
Five Dots, Five Pillars
The five dots echo Lakshmi's five forms of prosperity — Dhana (monetary wealth), Dhanya (food/grain), Santana (progeny), Gaja (elephants/power), and Vidya (knowledge). BYLD builds all five.
Vertical Rhythm
The 2-column layout is taller than wide — it reads upward. Growth, ambition, compounding. Unlike the 3×2 which reads as a spreadsheet, this reads as aspiration.

Clear Space
Minimum clear space around the mark equals 1 dot diameter on all sides. No text, graphics, or container edges may enter this zone. For the wordmark lockup, the space between mark and wordmark is 1.5 dot diameters.
